CUBITAL TUNNEL SYNDROME
A common condition that caused by compression and inflammation of the Ulnar nerve which is one of the three main nerves in the arm (besides medial and radial nerve). The most common place for compression of the nerve is behind the inside part of the elbow thus explaining the term “cubital tunnel syndrome.” Most common symptoms are numbness and tingling in fingers, weaking of grip, wasting of hand muscle in late stages of nerve compression. Most common causes are leaning on elbow for long time, fluid build up in elbow, trauma to the elbow, overstretching of elbow. Diagnosis is made via physical examination, history taking, nerve conduction test. Treatment can vary from anti-inflammatory, to elbow brace, to cortisone shot to surgical decompression surgery (Cubital tunnel release, Ulnar nerve anterior transposition,Medial epicondylectomy)
